State Requirement

Texas welcomes all Texas Professional Engineers to our state licensing renewal information page. It is our principal goal, as is the board’s requirement, to provide meaningful continuing education activities that will enhance the knowledge, skill and expertise of the licensee’s, within his / her chosen field of practice. In addition to providing valuable licensure renewal information in a summarized format, has now incorporated “recommended courses” that we believe will further enhance the user’s interest in current topics and events.

Summary License renewal requirement
PDH / CE Hours Required: 15 PDH Annually
Renewal deadline: March 31, June 30, September 30 or December 31 based on the initial date of licensure
State Approval: The Texas Board of Professional Engineers does not pre-approve providers or specific courses. Course selection is determined by the engineer; however, they must meet the requirements of the Texas Board of PE.
Course Objective: At a minimum one (1) PDH must be earned in professional ethics. Remaining PDH's must have an underlying objective to expand the skills and knowledge relevant to the licensee’s chosen field of practice.
PDH / CE Carryover A maximum of 14 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period.
Online Courses: Accepted. No limit on number of PDH that can be achieved through online continuing education.
