State Requirement

Tennessee welcomes all Tennessee Professional Engineers to our state licensing renewal information page. It is our principal goal, as is the board’s requirement, to provide meaningful continuing education activities that will enhance the knowledge, skill and expertise of the licensee’s, within his / her chosen field of practice. In addition to providing valuable licensure renewal information in a summarized format, has now incorporated “recommended courses” that we believe will further enhance the user’s interest in current topics and events.

Summary License renewal requirement
PDH / CE Hours Required: 24 PDH hours biennially
Renewal deadline: Biennially, based on original licensure date
State Approval: The Tennessee Board of Professional Engineers does not pre-approve providers or specific courses. Course selection is determined by the engineer; however, course selection must meet the requirements of the Tennessee Board of Professional Engineers.
Course Objective: PDH can be technical, ethical, or managerial content based; however, at least thirteen (13) PDH must address health, safety and welfare issues and technical competency.
PDH / CE Carryover A maximum of 12 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period
Online Courses: Accepted. No limit on number of PDH that can be achieved through online continuing education.
