This course material is provided to serve electrical engineers and other design professionals reinforce their knowledge of basic electrical engineering concepts and emphasize the importance of safety in working with electrical systems.

Electricity, the predominant energy source of the modern era is primarily considered “safe power”; however, without proper precautions, both the designers and end user can suffer disastrous consequences. As Engineers, we have to be conscientious of our moral obligation of providing safe viable products that protects the user from bodily harm whilst performing its intended task.

This course was developed to familiarize all professional with occupational safety and health concerns inherent to electricity and electrical system. Hazard control and the intertwined relationship between the cost of accident prevention and the moral regard for the safety of human life and well-being are examined in detail. As a secondary objective; however, closely related and comingled to its primary function, the user will learn about the concepts associated with electric shock and inadvertent equipment activation and safety standards.
